The psoas bursa lies between the psoas tendon and the lesser trochanter of the femur. The psoas bursa may bulge into the upper corner of the femoral triangle if it becomes distended or inflamed.

Presentation is with a diffuse swelling at the upper corner of the femoral triangle. The bursa is too deep to have a distinct shape. It does not fluctuate. The lump becomes painful when the hip joint is moved.
