Cholesterosis or "strawberry gallbladder" is a chronic inflammatory condition of the gallbladder associated with gallstones. The interior of the gallbladder resembles a strawberry with yellow specks - submucous aggregations of cholesterol crystals and cholesterol esters corresponding to the seeds.

The cholesterol aggregates may detach and become the nidus of a cholesterol stone.
