Burns in adults
In relative order of frequency, burns in adults tend to be caused by the following agents:
- explosion and flames; e.g. house fires
- scalds from oil or water; e.g. car radiator in young adult, hot bath in elderly
- direct contact with hot surface
- electrical burns
- chemical burns
- friction burns
- sunburn
