The blood flow in the brain varies between different tissues. The blood flow in the cortex is relatively high in comparison to other parts of the brain. Blood flow is decreased with increased intracranial pressure. There is little role for vasomotor reflexes in the regulation of cerebral blood flow. Blood flow in the brain is influenced by brain activity e.g. increased products of metabolism such as hydrogen cause an increase in blood flow.
