Conditions when the patient should be advised not to drive
LICENCES (Group 1 entitlement)
- angina
- diving must cease when symptoms occur at rest or at the wheel
- driving may recommence when satisfactory symptom control is achieved
- DVLA need not be notified
- acute coronary syndrome including myocardial infaraction
- after MI, driving must cease for at least 4 weeks. Driving may recommence thereafter providing there is no other disqualifying condition
- after a non ST elevation MI, driving may recommence 1 week after successful angioplasty, if there is no other disqualifying condition
- DVLA need not be notified
- coronary artery bypass grafting - see menu item
- coronary angioplasty
- driving must cease for at least 1/52
- driving may recommence thereafter provided there is no other disqualifying condition
- DVLA need not be notified
- arrhythmia - see menu item
- pacemaker insertion or successful catheter ablation - see menu item
- implantable cardioverter defibrillator - see menu item
- syncope - until cause identified and symptoms controlled
