Sumatriptan

Sumatriptan is a 5-HT 1 receptor agonist used for the acute treatment of migraine and cluster headache. It is given as a subcutaneous injection with an auto-injector.

It is considered highly effective for cluster headaches.

Dose is 6mg as a subcutaneous injection, with no more than 12mg per 24 hours.

Sumatriptan is also available as oral tablets and as a nasal spray.
