Contraindications/cautions
Contraindications include:
- allergy to aspirin
- where there is active peptic ulceration
- in haemophiliacs
- with hypoprothrombinaemia
Cautions include:
- asthma
- history of peptic ulcer disease
- renal impairment
- gout (low doses of aspirin increase urate concentrations)
- concomitant use of drugs that increase risk of bleeding
- preferably avoid during fever or viral infection in children (risk of Reye's syndrome)
