Intermittent claudication
Intermittent claudication is a cramp-like, muscular pain in the calf, brought on by exercise and relieved only by rest. It is a symptom of chronic, arterial insufficiency of the lower limb. The patient may begin to limp, the name of this condition originating from the Latin "claudicare" meaning to limp.
The management of claudication is discussed under chronic lower limb arterial insufficiency.
