Incidence

Authoring team

Buerger's disease is relatively uncommon. The exact incidence is uncertain since it depends upon what criteria are used to establish the diagnosis; radiographic criteria imply higher incidences than purely histological ones. Prevalence also shows geographical variance.

Approximate incidences are:

  • USA - less than 1%
  • Eastern Europe - 5%
  • Japan - 15%
  • Asia - greater than 15%
