Disadvantages
The disadvantages of cross-sectional echocardiography are:
- possible misinterpretation of structures if the images do not correspond to expected anatomical sections.
- correct alignment of beam is required because the strength of echoes is dependent on its orientation of the beam to the structures being studied.
- relatively slow frame rate, especially when the depth of field is large.
