Differential diagnosis
This includes:
- pityriasis rosea - acute eruption; initial large patch followed by numerous small pink papules with fine peripheral scale; papules concentrated over trunk and upper limbs; fade within 6 weeks
- lichen planus - violaceous polygonal papules covered by white lines (Wickham's striae); associated mouth and nail involvement
