Differential diagnosis
This includes:
- hand eczema - ill defined; itchy; vesicles rather than pustules
- fungal infection - erythema is unilateral or asymmetrical with scaling, pustules and involvement of toe clefts and nails
- keratoderma blenorrhagium which is usually associated with Reiter's syndrome
