Pituitary tumours have a prevalence of 200 per million and an incidence of 15 new patients/million/year.
The relative frequency of the different tumour types is given below:
- prolactinoma 50-55%
- non-secreting 20-25%
- somatotroph 20-23%
- corticotroph 5-8%
- gonadotroph < 5%
- thyrotroph < 1%
