The course of the condition is self-limiting and no treatment is required other than an antipyretic such as paracetamol.
N.B. the prolonged use of vasoconstrictor nose drops should be discouraged, because of their potentially harmful effect to the nasal mucosa - rhinitis medicamentosa.
