General management of a practice population
Factors that may be considered include:
- the effect of treatment - with a few exceptions a population treated with antibiotics improve about 24 hrs sooner
- time management:
- short term it takes less time to write a prescription
- long term it takes more time to explain but less consultations will be made if there is a consensus
- symptoms and signs that demonstrate bacterial and viral infection
- indication for antibiotics
- non infective causes of sore throat
