Aetiology
Aetiologic factors in peptic oesophageal stricture include:
- acid-related, but also bile
- oesophageal clearing ineffective, specifically the oesophageal body
- lower oesophageal sphincter failure
- reduced mucosal protection
- diminished sensitivity to perfusion with acid
- extreme oesophageal protective response
