Results
The trial found that:
- hypertension itself was a risk for type 2 diabetes: RR 2.43 (95% confidence intervals, 2.16 to 2.73)
- only beta-blocker therapy was associated with increased risk of type 2 diabetes: 1.28 (95% confidence intervals, 1.04 to 1.57)
