Differential diagnosis
Differential diagnoses of chronic fatigue syndrome include:
- depression; there remains a popular body of belief that the condition is due to a depressive illness with strong somatic features
- anxiety
- Lyme Disease - in areas of the country where Lyme disease is endemic this must be excluded as the symptoms are very similar
