Venous occlusion
Mesenteric venous occlusion accounts for 10-15% of cases of ischaemic colitis.
Causes of venous occlusion include:
- portal vein thrombosis
- intra-abdominal sepsis
- combined oral contraceptive pill
- polycythaemia vera
