Repair of defect
- sac is resected down to the level of the fascia
- the site of the umbilical sac in the umbilical fascia is closed with interrupted absorbable suture
- umbilicus is tacked down to the fascia with an interrupted suture
- subcutaneous tissue is reapproximated with a few interrupted sutures
- skin is closed with a subcuticular stitch
