The second part of the subclavian artery is that section deep to scalenus anterior between its medial and lateral margins.

Inferiorly and laterally is the groove for the subclavian artery on the superior surface of the shaft of the first rib.
During its second part, the right subclavian artery gives off the costocervical trunk from its posterior surface.
