Clinical features
Clinical presentation may be asymptomatic or may feature:
- recurrent sinopulmonary and gastrointestinal infections, especially if there is IgA and IgG2 deficiency
- autoimmune disease:
- rheumatoid arthritis
- systemic lupus erythematosus
- sprue-like syndrome with steatorrhoea, or coeliac disease
- there is often an increased incidence of atopic illness which may be reduced in patients who were previously breast fed
