Prognostic indicators
Poor prognostic indicators in Guillain-Barre syndrome include:
- age greater than 40 years
- rapid progression to tetraplegia
- requirement for ventilation
- a previous diarrhoeal illness, particularly Campylobacter jejuni enteritis
