Follow-up if history of endometrial cancer
follow up
Majority of recurrences will occur within the first 3 years of life.
- any pelvic pain or vaginal or rectal bleeding should be regarded as signs of disease recurrence and should be investigated promptly.
- in addition both the patient and clinician should be alert for general symptoms of malignancy and metastasis (anorexia, unexplained weight loss, bowel, urinary, or respiratory symptoms etc.) (1)
The European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) guidelines recommend follow-ups every 3-4 months with physical and gynaecological examination for the first 2 years and afterwards every 6 months until 5 years (2).
