  • haemorrhage - usually from damage to a branch artery when creating the nephrostomy track and usually, corrected by clamping the nephrostomy tube to create a tamponade effect
  • pneumothorax - requires a chest drain
  • septicaemia - unlikely if appropriate antibiotic cover given prophylactically
