Premenarchal patient:

  • any cyst larger than 2 cm in diameter

Premenopausal patient:

  • any multilocular or solid cyst between 6 - 8 cm diameter
  • any cyst greater than 8 cm diameter
  • any discrete cyst less than 8 cm which fails to regress after a period of 6 weeks observation

Postmenopausal patient:

  • any palpable mass
