Clincial features:

  • rarely pyuria or haematuria
  • vaginal odour and/or discharge. Other features include pruritus, dyspareunia, external dysuria. There is no urgency or increased frequency. On examination there is vulvovaginitis

Urine:

  • less than 10^2 cells per milimetre
