Non-operative treatment

Authoring team

The non-operative treatment of radial club hand is commenced first. Splintage and manipulation are started soon after birth. Particular emphasis is placed upon preventing progressive stiffness of the elbow. Passive flexion exercises are instituted. Serial splinting aims to passively centralize the wrist preoperatively. However, it cannot correct the deformity or muscular imbalance and as such, surgery is the definitive treatment.
