Scapula fracture
If a fracture occurs in the body of the scapula then it is generally caused by a crushing force. In this case ribs may also be fractured and there may be dislocation of the sternoclavicular joint.
Fractures to the neck of the scapula may be due to a direct blow or falling on the shoulder.
A fracture of the glenoid may occur during a direct blow to the shoulder.
When a scapula is fractured shoulder movements are still possible, although painful.
