Ataxia telangectasia is complicated by:

  • chronic bronchopulmonary infection in childhood, with progression to bronchiectasis, which may be fatal; the underlying lesion is immunosupression
  • lymphoid malignancy - lymphoma and T cell leukaemia - can often occur in the teens, and can also be fatal
