Diagnostic criteria for familial CJD
The diagnostic criteria for familial Creutzfeldt-Jacob disease are:
- definite or probable CJD in the patient and definite or probable CJD in a first degree relative
- neuropsychiatric disorder in a patient with a recognised mutation in the prion protein gene
