Progressive early-onset ataxia (not Friedreich's ataxia)

Patients with this form of ataxia have many of the clinical features of Friedreich's ataxia but retain their tendon reflexes.

Pathologically, the central and peripheral sensory neurones are less severely affected than in classical Friedreich's ataxia.
