Inadequate digestion of fats may be due to ineffective pancreatic lipase activity, caused by:
- deficiency:
- chronic pancreatitis
- pancreatic carcinoma
- cystic fibrosis
- inactivation:
- excess gastric acid secretion due to Zollinger-Ellison syndrome
