Duodenal diverticula are often found incidentally during contrast studies of the upper gastrointestinal tract or duodenoscopy. Hypotonic duodenography with a late film to show retained contrast is used to clearly delineate a diverticulum. ERCP elucidates the location of the diverticulum relative to the bile duct and pancreatic duct.
