Gangliosides

The gangliosides are glycolipids of the glycosphingolipid subtype which are widely found in:

  • neuronal membranes
  • liver
  • spleen
  • erythrocytes

They consist of the amino alcohol sphingosine in combination with a fatty acid and more carbohydrate residues than cerebrosides.
