In patients who are very overweight (e.g. body mass index of 30 kg/m^2) then a weight reduction of about 10 kg can lead to a reduction in the concentration of LDL cholesterol by 7%.

Also the HDL cholesterol is raised by about 13%. If a person exercises regularly then there appears to be an enhancement of the effects of weight reduction.
