Management
The management of this condition is largely dependent on the severity of the haemorrhage and the condition of the mother and the foetus.
DO NOT PERFORM A DIGITAL EXAMINATION.
Guidance from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists for moderate or severe placental abruption is to follow the 'ABCD' of resuscitation:
Assess Airway and Breathing: high-flow oxygen.
Evaluate Circulation
Decide on Delivery.
