SCID is difficult to treat. Basic principles include:
Intravenous infusion of gamma globulin in doses of 100-400 mg/kg may provide temporary relief. Allogeneic bone marrow transplantation may restore immunologic function fully.
Patients with ADA deficiency may receive ADA gene transfer using marrow cells.
