Somatoform (somatic symptom and related) disorders
These disorders are syndromes in which physical symptoms, which mimic physical illness, occur at times of psychological stress. Sometimes called somatoform disorders these are now more correctly known as somatic symptom and related disorders following changes to DSM-5, where the previous umbrella term "somatoform disorders" was largely reorganized into Somatic Symptom and Related Disorders.
The somatoform disorders include:
- conversion disorders
- somatization disorders
- hypochondriasis
- dysmorphophobia
- somatoform pain disorder
