- white cell casts are seen in pyelonephritis.
- red cell casts are always pathological and are seen in glomerulonephritis as well as many other renal diseases.
- tubular cell casts are seen in acute tubular necrosis.
Epithelial cells are a normal constituent of the urinary sediment.
