Overflow proteinuria
Overflow proteinuria is associated with disorders which cause an excess of low molecular mass proteins in the plasma:
- amylase in acute pancreatitis
- Bence-Jones protein in multiple myeloma
- Waldenstrom's macroglobulinaemia
- light chain disease
- haemoglobin in intravascular haemolysis
- myoglobin following crush injury
- lysozyme in myelomonocytic leukaemia / M4 acute myeloid leukaemia
