This is more common than bilateral agenesis. It is usually picked up incidentally on IVU or ultrasound. Sometimes, it is found whilst investigating an abdominal mass, this being the contralateral, hypertrophied kidney. It is sometimes detected in the context of a single umbilical artery.
Prognosis depends on other abnormalities.
