Mechanism of respiratory PND
In patients with asthma, nocturnal dyspnoea may be relate to the exaggeration of the physiological diurnal cycle of bronchoconstriction.
Patients with emphysema or chronic airflow limitation may experience splinting of the diaphragm when lying flat.
