Bruised heel syndrome

Authoring team

This is a cause of inferior heel pain. This condition may occur in obese elderly, or younger athletes training on hard surfaces. Pain is felt more posteriorly, under the fat pad of the calcaneum. As the problem is biomechanical, treatment is very similar to plantar fasciitis, i.e. Sorbothane insoles with heel inserts.
