Gastrectomy is the removal of all or part of the stomach.
Some indications for gastrectomy:
- partial:
- palliation of carcinoma of the distal stomach
- benign gastric and duodenal ulceration
- benign tumours
- total:
- palliation of carcinoma of the proximal stomach
- multifocal carcinoma
- Zollinger-Ellison syndrome
