Vulval condylomata acuminata

  • due to infection with human papilloma virus (HPV) - typically spread via sexual contact
  • sexual partner may not have obvious penile warts
  • typical fronded papillomata up to 2 cm in diameter are found anywhere on the vulva. The infection may extend to the vagina or anus
  • warts may spread during pregnancy and may become large and fusiform
  • vulval warts are associated with the rare laryngeal and respiratory papillomas in neonates of affected mothers; HPV types 6 and 11
