Tattoo removal

Authoring team

The treatment of choice for the removal of tattoos is laser therapy. In order to completely clear the pigments of a tattoo a range of lasers may be required. This is because some lasers are more effective on some colours of dye than on others. It is likely that a number of treatment sessions will be required. The removal of tattoos is not generally available on the NHS.
