Proteinuria (tubular)

Tubular proteinuria is the result of failure of the renal tubules to reabsorb some of the plasma proteins which have been filtered by normal glomeruli.

Causes of tubular proteinuria include:

  • chronic pyelonephritis
  • acute tubular necrosis
  • renal tubular acidosis
  • heavy metal poisoning
  • renal transplantation
