A formal vascular assessment should be undertaken e.g. ESR, fibrinogen levels, platelets, etc. Serological tests may be undertaken to exclude autoimmune diseases.

Arteriography reveals segmental obliteration of arteries, especially the medium sized arteries of the forearm and calf, with a strikingly normal appearance of the remaining vessels. Digital arteries are frequently involved. The femoral arteries may show a characteristic "corrugation".

Digital plethysmography may reveal small vessel occlusions.
