Paracetamol(infants)

Paracetamol is used to relieve moderate pain in infants. It has no anti-inflammatory action. It may be used alone or as a supplement to opioids or local anaesthesia.

A dose of 10mg/kg every 4 hours is safe and may be given by oral suspension of suppository. If the baby is jaundiced, a dose of 5mg/kg is more appropriate.
